Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the EPA charge for?

A: It’s a fee to help offset the high cost of hazardous waste deposal, permits, and processing of chemical waste. The rate is 7.5% and is applied to all jobs involving any stripping or plating process. The good news is there is no sales tax on anything we do!

Q: What does “triple plating” mean?

A: “Triple plating” does not mean that there are 3 layers of chrome. It is not possible to have more than one layer of chrome. However, there are 3 different metal layers in the process. Which are Copper, Nickel, and then Chrome.

Q: How does the plating process work?

A: All metals are stripped, cleaned, sandblasted if needed. Copper is used to build up all surfaces, fill imperfections, and create a smooth base. Nickel is the second step that is applied over the copper to create a brilliant luster. Finally, a thin layer of chrome is applied that gives a blue like mirror finish look.

Q: What is your turn around time?

A: Many factors can determine the finish time for example the number of parts, the condition, and the type of desired finish. Smaller jobs usually take up to 4 to 6 weeks while larger jobs may take up to 4 to 8 months.

Q: What about “RUSH” jobs?

A: Yes, we can move a job ahead of the line for a fee of 25% of the subtotal amount.

Q: What payment methods do you have?

A: We accept Visa or MasterCard, Checks, and of course CASH!

Q: How do I go about shipping my parts to you?

A:

  1. Make 2 detailed inventory lists of all pieces/parts you are shipping. (1 copy for you & 1 for us).
  2. Remove any plastic, rubber, grease, oils, and any other materials you DON’T want plated.
  3. Label any pieces/parts that need special attention (e.i . tape off certain areas).
  4. Make sure to include a contact phone number, return mailing address with your name, email.
  5. INSURE your packages and let us know how much to insure it when we are finished with it.

We ship via UPS, unless other arrangements are made.

Q: Should I prep my pieces/parts before shipping?

A: NO, we prefer to do all the prep work ourselves.

Q: Can you plate other pieces that are not car parts?

A: Yes, We can plate stainless, Aluminum, copper, brass, nickel, bronze, steel, are a few items we do.

We can do anything from the kitchen to bathroom to automotive to fixtures and beyond.

Castcoat Process

Q: What is the castcoat process?

A: It’s a secret!

Q: Will it distort my pieces/parts?

A: No, it is made to restore your pieces/parts back to original look.

Q: My part is pitted, can you fix it?

A: YES, the is what the castcoat is for.

Q: I have a part with a small crack and a section missing. I can’t find a replacement or reproduction for it, can you fix it?

A: YES, in most cases we can build and restore it back to original look.

Q: Can you duplicate parts with this castcoat process?

A: Yes, a mold of your part will be casted, then our plating process afterwards to complete the desired finish. This process is not cheap but the end result is worth its wait in Chrome!
